OK, Lincoln Riley might be right.

Oklahoma, which improved to 5-0 after a 37-31 win over Kansas State on Saturday, seems “close,” as Riley has repeatedly described his team and its progression.

Close to a Big 12 championship-level team? Yes.

Close to a team that can give anyone a competitive game? No doubt.

Close to winning a College Football Playoff game? … Not quite. But if the Sooners can find the offense that worked for them more often than not on Saturday with the defensive effort they’ve put forth the past few weeks, Riley might really have something.

Here are 10 observations from a wild day in Manhattan, Kansas:

1️⃣ Onside-kick attempts nearly doom Oklahoma. If OU had lost to Kansas State, Sooner fans might finally retire their disgust for the infamous 2006 OU-Oregon controversy1 and made this their new favorite officiating heartbreak.
