Some fun at the top but some really dreadful matchups at the bottom

Big 12 on TV: Ranking Week's 2 games

A bit of a top-heavy week for the Big 12, but here is how I’m prioritizing my weekend watching:

Must watch

1. No. 10 Iowa at No. 9 Iowa State (3:30 p.m., ABC): This feels like the year the Cyclones can end their drought against the Hawkeyes. Last week’s close call against Northern Iowa didn’t exactly make me super confident in Iowa State, but this should be one heck of a rivalry game with ESPN’s College GameDay on hand and both teams ranked in the top 10.

2. No. 15 Texas at Arkansas (6 p.m., ESPN): OK, Texas might not be as bad as we thought. The Longhorns handled a good Louisiana team last week. Now, only a road night game stands in the way of an ESPN announcer declaring Texas’ return to relevance.

3. California at TCU (2:30 p.m., ESPNU): The Golden Bears lost to Nevada last week, which wasn’t the biggest blemish on a miserable week for the Pac-12 North. Meanwhile, this is a good measuring-stick game for the Horned Frogs, who beat up on Duquesne so bad last week that the tea…
