NORMAN, Okla. — Oklahoma’s internal home run chase might be more interesting than the one happening nationally.

Nineteen players across the country have 13-or-more home runs, and there are three Sooners among them. No other school has more than one player included in that group.

Jocelyn Alo leads top-ranked OU, which hosts Tulsa Wednesday at 6 p.m., with 16 blasts so far this season. Tiare Jennings and Grace Lyons each have 13. And Lynnsie Elam isn’t far behind with 11 of her own.

Lyons has been particularly impressive this season, considering she hit 14 home runs all of last season and combined for just 13 home runs over her first two seasons in Norman.

“She's not chasing anything what she did last year,” OU coach Patty Gasso said, “or anything like that.”

Her numbers would certainly convince you otherwise.
